Sneaky Corn

I think it's pretty unanimous that people want to die at an old age and of natural causes. But, years of not knowing how to eat catches up with us first. No, drinking two soft drinks at a bbq one day is not going to kill you, but, yes, having a two sodas per day habit for 10, 15, 20 years, will. People who drink 2 or more soft drinks per day have an 87% increase in risk of developing pancreatic cancer, which has a mortality rate of 80% in one year, and 96% after 5 years. Diabetes, kidney failure, and cancer are some more that have ridiculous correlation to soda and other manufactured foods. These are 3 things, by the way, that you DO NOT want to have. I see the effects they cause every day at work, and wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

One-third of Americans will have Diabetes by 2050... and it's already the 7th leading cause of death in this country- which- the leading 3 (heart disease, cancer and stroke), share coincidentally similar stories when it comes to diet.
^  Here are 8 reasons why people drink soda, and 16 reasons they shouldn't.
^  The Corn Refiners Association is asking the FDA to change the name of high-fructose corn syrup to corn sugar.. an "image make-over". Way to church it up CRA!

To be fair, it's not like corn is a stand alone culprit, but it's pretty sneaky and worth being aware of.

Candy, soda, chips, crackers, yogurt, juice, cereal, bread, canned or frozen fruits and vegetables, condiments, cough syrup, cottage cheese, pasta sauce, soups, hamburger, bacon, lunch meat... Corn is in all these products- and so many more. How? As a starch, filler or sweetener. Why? Because it's cheap. What's the problem? We're not cows. We're not pigs or chickens or any other farm animal. Our purpose in life is not to fatten up and die at a premature age. Although, that sounds pretty familiar, does it not?

I think a brainless analogy to follow, in regards to deciding what to eat, is too look at nature. If you eat a cows diet, you will surely gain the attributes of a cow (and that includes cow's milk). Eat like a turtle- right from the earth, and you ought to live long. Eat like a bird and your metabolism will go up. You need to put on healthy weight? Eat fish and nuts- bears have had this down-packed for years.
No sense in thinking too hard into diet, when there's a blueprint right in front of us.

Population :*(

The world that we live in is unsustainable- I think everyone can agree with that. Our population is out of control and resources are drying up at literally exponential rates, and a hope that over 6 billion people will understand and adopt the concept of personal responsibility is pretty, well... unrealistic. The fact that the population has OVER DOUBLED in the last mere 50 years is just .. so, so depressing... & to think of the future?

This chart shows our current population trend in millions.. and then quickly into billions.

Earth facts - Earth's human population growth since 1750. Can society expect world population problems? Environmental problems?
Population outlook by 2050?  -   9.3 BILLION PEOPLE!
Can you imagine?

Each year so many people die and its heart-breaking to those who loved them; 2.4 million deaths in the US alone; 56 million worldwide. AIDS,  cancer, tb, heart disease, diabetes... each with their own cruel, no-mercy niche...
Please consider also, on the other side of that stone, that our population growth is 75 MILLION more this year than it was the last. That means cancel out the 56 million deaths per year with 56 million births, and then add on 75 million people- in just ONE calendar year... This is insane! We have seen in Africa what happens when there are too many people and not enough resources to go around, like, oh ya know... FOOD...and let's be honest- nobody wants to live in those places, not even grass.

I have worked in the medical field for the last few years now and have seen death a number of times. From my experience, I can honestly say that natural death is much more dignified than trying to prolong the inevitable. Some things that really make me sympathetic are to see are life support after years of terrible medical history, do-not-resucitate orders for people in their 90's, and open heart surgery for anyone over 70.
If I have a heart attack or stroke, kidney failure or cancer- that's it for me, it's my time, my cycle has ended- and I 'm perfectly fine with that. I would love to see more people adopt this perspective- or at least say, 'you know what? After 60 or 70 years old, I'm comfortable letting go. Even if I don't want to, I understand that it is my time.'
Another thing I would love to see is people giving all their heart and attention and teachings to the one or 2 children that they have or are thinking about having.  This is not 1920, and we do not need 10 kids to help us on the farm... We hardly have time for the children that we do have, yet we don't think twice about having more? It's not healthy.

Dirt!

The hummingbird is the creature with the seemingly smallest impact, but still compelled to do SOMETHING- as this amazing, HIGHLY-recommended documentary explains. My 'something' is to share insights, ideals and discussions that could potentially be powerful, if recognized on a larger scale. The experiment is to see whether these ideas that come to me or from me (that I obviously think are so great :) are worth passing on!
