Population :*(

The world that we live in is unsustainable- I think everyone can agree with that. Our population is out of control and resources are drying up at literally exponential rates, and a hope that over 6 billion people will understand and adopt the concept of personal responsibility is pretty, well... unrealistic. The fact that the population has OVER DOUBLED in the last mere 50 years is just .. so, so depressing... & to think of the future?

This chart shows our current population trend in millions.. and then quickly into billions.

Earth facts - Earth's human population growth since 1750. Can society expect world population problems? Environmental problems?
Population outlook by 2050?  -   9.3 BILLION PEOPLE!
Can you imagine?

Each year so many people die and its heart-breaking to those who loved them; 2.4 million deaths in the US alone; 56 million worldwide. AIDS,  cancer, tb, heart disease, diabetes... each with their own cruel, no-mercy niche...
Please consider also, on the other side of that stone, that our population growth is 75 MILLION more this year than it was the last. That means cancel out the 56 million deaths per year with 56 million births, and then add on 75 million people- in just ONE calendar year... This is insane! We have seen in Africa what happens when there are too many people and not enough resources to go around, like, oh ya know... FOOD...and let's be honest- nobody wants to live in those places, not even grass.

I have worked in the medical field for the last few years now and have seen death a number of times. From my experience, I can honestly say that natural death is much more dignified than trying to prolong the inevitable. Some things that really make me sympathetic are to see are life support after years of terrible medical history, do-not-resucitate orders for people in their 90's, and open heart surgery for anyone over 70.
If I have a heart attack or stroke, kidney failure or cancer- that's it for me, it's my time, my cycle has ended- and I 'm perfectly fine with that. I would love to see more people adopt this perspective- or at least say, 'you know what? After 60 or 70 years old, I'm comfortable letting go. Even if I don't want to, I understand that it is my time.'
Another thing I would love to see is people giving all their heart and attention and teachings to the one or 2 children that they have or are thinking about having.  This is not 1920, and we do not need 10 kids to help us on the farm... We hardly have time for the children that we do have, yet we don't think twice about having more? It's not healthy.
